Professor CC. Kartha was earlier Professor of Eminence at Rajiv Gandhi Center for Biotechnology (RGCB), Trivandrum. Before joining RGCB, he was Senior Professor and Head of the Division of Cellular & Molecular Cardiology as well as Dean (Academic Affairs) at Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute of Medical Sciences & Technology at Trivandrum. A physician by training, he took his doctoral degree in Pathology from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi in the year 1979. He has been a Chairman and or member of several national and institutional committees as well as editorial boards of many peer reviewed journals.
He is an elected Fellow of International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences, Royal College of Physicians (London), National Academy of Medial Sciences (India), Indian Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Sciences (India) and Indian College of Pathology. He has more than 100 scholarly publications. He is a recipient of the Makoto Nagano Award from International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences and Manjeet Singh Oration Award from India Section of International Society for Heart Research.
