About IACS

The International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences (IACS) was founded in 1996 on the proposal of Prof. Naranjan S Dhalla with its headquarters in Winnipeg, Canada. Established by renowned cardiologists, both experimental and clinical, the Academy provides the organizational structure for the world-wide sharing of research and education in the field of heart health.

The Indian Section was registered as a society under the Travancore Cochin Literary Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act 1955 on 14th April 2016 with its office at the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, an autonomous institution under the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India.

The main objectives of the India Section is to promote the progress and uphold the cause of cardiovascular sciences and their interfaces; to represent internationally the scientific work of India in the domain of cardiovascular sciences and to conduct lectures, seminars, courses etc for reading and discussing scientific reports in cardiology.

"The challenge for the Academy and its members is to adopt a mind-set, which continuously raises the question of how new and existing knowledge, can be translated into prevention, improved diagnosis and therapy of cardiovascular disease. This approach offers the hope of a continued reduction in morbidity and mortality due to cardiovascular diseases.
Howard Morgan, founding President
